交野市の姉妹都市、カナダのコリングウッドから訪問団の皆さんが来日【関空到着→ホストファミリーと合流】
その歴史は長く44年となっています。
交野市役所ホームページにも姉妹都市コリングウッドのことが詳しく書かれているのでそちらを見ていただくとして、コリングウッドと交野市の姉妹都市関係は、
・1981年11月3日に、市制施行10周年を記念して、カナダのオンタリオ州にあるコリングウッドのまちと姉妹都市提携。
・姉妹都市提携は、交野フットボールクラブとコリングウッドの少年サッカーチームの親善交換ゲームを実現させようと関係団体が働きかけたことがきっかけで、コリングウッドから本市に要請を受け提携にまで発展。
・現在は、特定非営利活動法人交野市国際交流協会が窓口となって両市の姉妹都市交流の中心的役割となっている。
といった内容となっています。

と前置きがとても長くなってしまいましたが、2025年9月28日（日）、カナダの姉妹都市コリングウッドから姉妹都市交流のための訪問団がご来日され、交野市に滞在されています。
複数回に分けてその様子などご紹介できればと思い、今回は、関空からバスに乗ってホストファミリーが待つ交野市に到着するまでをご紹介させて頂きます！
9月28日（日）、午後4時半頃に関空着。手荷物ピックアップなどを経てターミナル１の国際線出口から出て来られたのが、午後5時30分頃には全員集合。
今回の訪問団はコリングウッド市長のハムリンさんを含め総勢24名がご来日。
（9月28日（日）のフライトで来られた方は21名）
交野市国際交流協会のメンバー、交野市担当者と合流したご一行様はバスで交野市へ向かいます。
10時間以上のフライト、10時間以上の時差があるにも関わらず皆さんとても元気に見えました。
関空から大阪府交野市までおよそ1時間半。
途中雨も降ってきたり（交野市は土砂降りですなんていう情報も入ったり）しつつ天候も気になっていたのですが、19時頃に交野市に到着した時には雨はもう降っていませんでした。
交野市役所の駐車場でそれぞれ市内での宿泊先でもあるホストファミリーの皆さんと合流。
歓迎の中、ホストファミリーと共に交野市滞在中のそれぞれのホストファミリーのお家へ向かわれました。

As many of you know, Katano City, Osaka Prefecture, is a sister city with Collingwood, Canada. This relationship has a long history, spanning 44 years.
While the details of the sister city relationship with Collingwood are available on the Katano City Hall website, the key points of the Collingwood and Katano City partnership are:
Establishment: The sister city affiliation was formalized on November 3, 1981, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Katano's municipalization, with the town of Collingwood in Ontario, Canada.
Origin: The partnership was sparked by efforts from related organizations to realize a goodwill exchange game between the Katano Football Club and Collingwood's youth soccer team, and it developed into an affiliation following a request from Collingwood to Katano.
Current Role: Currently, the Specified Non-Profit Organization Katano City International Exchange Association serves as the central liaison for sister city exchange between the two municipalities.

By the way, Katano City has a population of about 78,000 and an area of 25 km². Katano City's specialties include honey, grapes, Japanese sake, and recently, craft beer has also appeared.
I often hear from people who have visited Collingwood that it is a wonderful place, the people are kind, and nature is close at hand. It makes me feel that Katano City and Collingwood might be similar in character.
After a very long introduction, on Sunday, September 28, 2025, a delegation for sister city exchange arrived from Katano's sister city, Collingwood, Canada, and is currently staying in Katano City.
We hope to introduce the highlights of their visit in several parts. In this article, we will cover their arrival at Kansai International Airport (KIX) and their journey to Katano City, where their host families awaited them.
They arrived at KIX around 4:30 PM on Sunday, September 28. After picking up their luggage, everyone was gathered at the Terminal 1 International Arrivals exit around 5:30 PM.
The total delegation for this visit, including Mayor Hamlin of Collingwood, consists of 24 people (21 people arrived on the flight on September 28th).
The group met with members of the Katano City International Exchange Association and Katano City staff and then headed to Katano City by bus. Despite a flight of over 10 hours and a time difference of more than 10 hours, everyone looked very energetic.
The journey from KIX to Katano City, Osaka Prefecture, takes about 1.5 hours.
We were concerned about the weather, as there was rain along the way, but when they arrived in Katano City around 7:00 PM, the rain had already stopped.
In the parking lot of the Katano City Hall, they each met with their respective host families, who would be accommodating them during their stay in the city.
Amidst a warm welcome, they departed with their host families to their temporary homes for their stay in Katano City.
